What SkyRealm stores, why, and how to delete it, in plain words. Last updated October 8, 2026.
The short version
- You sign in with your Bluesky account. SkyRealm only verifies who you are; it cannot read or post anything on your behalf.
- Votes are counted per account and shown as tallies. Who voted for which option is never listed; who has played a campaign is.
- No advertising, no third-party analytics, no IP addresses stored.
- You can see and delete everything held about you at /account, any time, without asking.
Signing in
Sign-in uses AT Protocol OAuth with the atproto scope, which identifies your account and nothing more. SkyRealm stores your account identifier (DID), handle, display name and avatar address, plus two public numbers kept for context: when the account was created and its follower count. The sign-in grant is kept so you stay signed in; signing out revokes it. One cookie keeps you signed in for up to a year.
Playing
A vote is the turn, your account identifier, the option and the time. While a turn is open, everyone sees the running tally per option. Nobody sees your individual choice: not other players, not the Dungeon Master. Voting puts you on the campaign's roster, which is public: your handle, XP and how many turns you have played. If you would rather not appear there, don't vote in that campaign, or delete your data afterwards.
Running a campaign
Campaigns, scenes, outcomes and the Dungeon Master's handle are public, by design. Campaigns appear on the front page unless marked unlisted. When a game account is configured, each turn and outcome is also posted to Bluesky from that account, with a generated image of the scene; those posts live on Bluesky under Bluesky's terms.
AI drafting
A Dungeon Master can ask the site to draft the next scene. The campaign premise, the party's state, the recent story and the Dungeon Master's guidance are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to write it. Nothing about individual players is sent: no handles, no identifiers, no votes. The draft is only a suggestion the Dungeon Master edits before it is used.
Cookies and storage
One session cookie (sid). The installable app caches static files for offline use. No third-party cookies, trackers, or ads.
Third parties
Bluesky's servers (your hosting server for sign-in, the public API for profiles), Anthropic for AI drafting as described above, and any image address a Dungeon Master attaches to a scene, which your browser loads the way it loads any image.
Retention
Data is kept while the campaign or account exists. Copies of the database are kept as backups for 30 days, so deleted data can persist in a backup for up to 30 days before it is gone everywhere.
Deleting your data
Go to /account while signed in. You can sign out of every device, or delete everything: your votes, your place on every roster, your sessions and sign-in grant, your cached profile, and, if you choose, the campaigns you run with all of their scenes and votes. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Posts the game account already made on Bluesky stay on Bluesky; they never named you.
